MTV TO HELP “RESTORE THE SHORE” WITH ON AIR, ONLINE AND MOBILE FUNDRAISING SPECIAL THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2012
Partnering With Non-Profit Architecture for Humanity, MTV Will Air the One Hour Special Featuring Members of the “Jersey Shore” Cast As Well As Other Special Guests
As part of the effort to help rebuild and restore the Jersey Shore – which was devastated, along with many other coastal areas, by Hurricane Sandy last week - MTV (a division of Viacom Inc., NASDAQ: VIAB) today announced it will produce a one hour fundraising special called “Restore the Shore.” The special will encourage people nationwide to contribute to the rebuilding of Seaside Heights, the heart of the Jersey Shore and home to one of MTV’s most popular shows, “Jersey Shore.”
The special will run LIVE from MTV’s Times Square Studio on Thursday, November 15th at 11pm ET, tape delayed PT on air, online and on mobile and will feature the cast of the “Jersey Shore” along with other special guest appearances to be announced. For this fundraising effort, MTV is partnering with Architecture for Humanity, an internationally recognized non-profit organization that provides design and construction services to communities in need. The organization will create a “Restore the Shore” fund to collect donations that will be principally directed toward the rebuilding of the famed Seaside Heights boardwalk, as well as supporting the re-building efforts of businesses and residents in the community that were so tragically affected by this historic storm. Architecture for Humanity has been helping communities rebuild after natural disasters for more than a decade, including major efforts in Biloxi and New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina and in Haiti after the devastating earthquake in 2010. Viewers will be provided with easy-to-use online and mobile giving tools, so people can donate during and well after the MTV special runs on November 15th. Additional details will be announced shortly. http://mtvvideomusicaward.blogspot.com

Kevin Hart to host VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS
Kevin Hart isn’t just the host of next month’s MTV Video Music Awards, he’s also part of Hollywood’s hottest new couple.
The comedian stars alongside Kim Kardashian and Kanye West in a video posted Wednesday on MTV’s website. Hart tells the pair he’s hosting the VMA show and that paparazzi are trying to get a look at ‘‘the new ‘it’ couple,’’ even though they would actually be a trio. He says, ‘‘I'm talking about Kev-Ye-Kim.’’
The video shows a casually clad Kardashian and West, who is up for two Video Music Awards, lounging on the end of a bed. When West asks what Hart means, he offers other possible couple nicknames, including ‘‘Ye-Kev-Kim’’ and ‘‘Ye-Kim-Kev.’’
The MTV Video Music Awards will be presented Sept. 6th at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
MTV Video Music Awards 2012 To Take Over Staples Center
Show air's live from LA Sept. 6th, at 8 pm ET/PT
MTV Video Music Awards are moving to the home of the Lakers: Staples Center in Los Angeles
Thursday, September 6th, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, the 2012 VMAs will take over Staples for the first time. The epicenter of the L.A. sports and entertainment universe is just the latest iconic venue the VMAs have called home, joining a list that includes New York's Radio City Music Hall, the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and American Airlines Arena in Miami.
It's fitting the 2012 VMAs are moving to Staples; after all, they'll need a big house to match the big-time impact of last year's show, which scored MTV's biggest audience in the network's history with a record-breaking 12.4 million viewers and were also the most tweeted-about awards show ever.
But before you get too excited for the VMAs, don't forget the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, airing live Sunday, June 3, from Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. Russell Brand — a two-time VMA host — has been tapped to helm this year's Movie Awards.

A gravity-defying P!nk got the party started from a flying trapeze, performing her chart-topping hit “Blow Me (One Last Kiss).” Rising R&B singer-songwriter Frank Ocean took the stage for an intimate performance of his single “Thinking Of You,” off his debut album. Accompanied only by a guitarist, it was an enchanting performance by the VMA newcomer.

Taylor Swift closed out the epic evening with a fun performance of her new smash single, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" that brought the entire crowd to their feet. Starting the song in a recording booth, Swift was soon draped by a team of backup dancers as they paraded down the stage with a shower of flower petals raining on the wall of hi-def screens behind them. Swift then crowd dived into the crowd at STAPLES Center amid a sea of confetti.

Lollapalooza lineup shuffled due to big storm
A powerful thunderstorm rumbled into downtown Chicago on Saturday, forcing organizers to suspend the Lollapalooza music festival for more than two hours while the tens of thousands of concertgoers took shelter in parking garages.
The festivities were halted at 3:30 p.m. after the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning because of a line of storms that was barreling down on the city from the west.
Organizers said it was unfortunate, but that safety was paramount. The estimated 100,000 concertgoers took the evacuation order in stride, for the most part, and calmly left Grant Park for nearby underground garages that were designated evacuation centers for the sold-out three-day event, which ends Sunday.
Crowds were allowed back into the venue after the worst of the storm had passed and police and concert organizers had inspected the park for any damage. It was only last summer that storm-driven wind gusts knocked down heavy stage rigging at the state fair in neighboring Indiana, killing seven people and injuring dozens of others.
Organizers posted a reshuffled Saturday lineup that added a half-hour to the night's events, which were scheduled to culminate with the Red Hot Chili Peppers performing on the main stage.

Video Music Awards score biggest audience ever for MTV with more than 12 million viewers
Between Beyonce’s baby bump and Lady Gaga dressed in drag, the Video Music Awards brought MTV its biggest audience in MTV's history
Lady Gaga appeared in drag, and the late British singer Amy Winehouse was remembered in a moving tribute.
MTV, owned by Viacom, said that a record-breaking 12.4 million people viewed Sunday's live performance and awards Broadcast from Los Angeles. MTV said that 8.5 million of those watching Sunday's show were 12-34 year-olds, making it the most watched telecast of all time in that age group.
Last year's MTV Video Music Awards, where Lady Gaga appeared in a dress made of raw meat~drew 11.4 million viewers ~the biggest audience since 2002.
Katy Perry and Adele were the biggest winners, taking home three awards each, but it was Beyonce who was the story of the night. Beyonce stole everyone's thunder by revealing she was pregnant, said Billboard. Entertainment Weekly said the singer's baby bump was the "one defining moment" of the evening.
Other reviewers and online fans highlighted the salute by Bruno Mars, Tony Bennett and Russell Brand to Winehouse, 27, who died of still to be determined causes in London in July, and a simple, effects-free performance by Britain's Adele.
Chris Brown's "career rehab" performance was also a strong moment~The Los Angeles Times.

Lady Gaga Strips Off Her Bra In VMA Promo Video
LADY GAGA STRIPS OFF BRA IN HER 2011 PROMO VIDEOLady Gaga will be performing at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards on August 28. But before then, Gaga has yet another big VMA announcement she'll make on MTV during "MTV First: Lady Gaga" tomorrow (August 18) at 7:49 p.m. ET, plus she'll also premiere her new video "Yoü And I."
Gaga's just-released "Yoü And I" video, which took us on a psychological roller coaster ride through the ups and downs of her relationships, showed her in a forest clearing playing a piano topped with her alter ego, Jo Calderone. And in her 2011 MTV VMA promo videos, we also see Lady Gaga behind the piano singing "Yoü And I." Except this time, Lady Gaga and her jazz quartet, set in black and white, rearrange "Yoü And I" into a Beat-era jazzy torch song, followed by Gaga seductively removing her bra, turning "Yoü And I into a coquettish, near-burlesque striptease, ending with Gaga posing in what almost feels like a reference to the classic 1988 L'Instant Taittinger Champagne ad.

Music Television was about to bring music to television.Thirty years later, Throughout its three decades of production, MTV has promoted music, introduced the artists behind classic songs, premiered iconic music videos and captured viewers’ interest with reality TV shows.
MTV’s first broadcast images were of the Apollo 11 launch, after the channel’s block letter logo appeared with a guitar riff playing and the announcement, “Ladies and gentlemen, rock and roll.” The film of the lunar landing gave way to MTV’s use of the “moon man.”
In the ’80s, MTV’s primary focus was the actual artists and their music, as MTV became the headquarters for the tunes and music videos of stars such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, The Police and Cyndi Lauper. Music videos, most notably Michael Jackson’s iconic video for “Thriller,” brought a visual aspect to songs and became an MTV staple. The Buggles’ “Video Killed the Radio Star” was the first music video ever played on MTV. Through MTV, artists gained exposure, and viewers could see what their favorite musicians actually looked like.
The MTV Video Music Awards premiered in 1984 at Radio City Music Hall and included a live performance of Madonna’s “Like a Virgin.” Five years later the first edition of MTV Unplugged aired in 1989. In the same year, “Yo! MTV Raps” brought hip-hop and rap music to television
MTV on Thursday said it has added a new category highlighting social activism to the Video Music Awards Show after seeing an influx of artist exploring self-worth and other issues in their music
The category of "Best Video With a Message" will honor artists and music videos that featured a positive message or raised awareness of key social issues facing today's youth. The awards will be given out at the popular cable TV network's Video Music Awards (VMAs) later this month.
MTV's president Stephen Friedman attributes the creation of the new category to the recent mobilization of celebrities and public figures that have rallied against bullying youths, gay discrimination and promoted self-empowerment.
"During the past year, we've seen a remarkable number of artists use their music to explore deeply personal experiences and issues they were passionate about to create powerful videos that resonated with and inspired millions of their fans," said Friedman said in a statement.
This year's VMA nominees for "Best Video With a Message" include Pink for "F***** Perfect," Lady Gaga for "Born This Way," Katy Perry with "Firework," Eminem featuring Rihanna for "Love The Way You Lie," Rise Against for "Make It Stop (September's Children)" and Taylor Swift for "Mean."
The 2011 "MTV Video Music Awards" will air live from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on August 28.
Three big artists are ready to get the party started at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, August 28, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Adele, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown have all been announced as performers at the show, airing live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles next month.

The British chanteuse is up for seven nods for her emotional "Rolling in the Deep" video, including Best Female Artist, Best Pop Video, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Direction, Best Editing and the night's big prize, Video of the Year.
Brown will return to the stage, after making his unforgettable VMA debut back in 2007. His eye-popping video for "Look at Me Now," which features Wayne and Busta Rhymes, is up for multiple Moonmen at the big show, including Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Collaboration.
MTV VMA diva smackdown: Katy Perry vs. Lady Gaga
There is only one MTV Video Music Awards category in which the pop diva who dominates this year's competition with nine nominations (Katy Perry) squares off against the one who swept the kudofest last year with eight wins (Lady Gaga): best female video.
Never mind the speculation over why Lady Gaga isn't nominated opposite Perry in the other races (87% of respondents to our poll believe there's an MTV conspiracy against her). Let's focus on just this contest, in which Lady Gaga is nominated for "Born This Way" and Perry is up for "Firework."
Who'll win? Or do you think there's any chance that the other nominees might pull off a victory and squash the dueling divas -- Adele ("Rolling in the Deep"), Beyonce ("Run the World (Girls)") and Nicki Minaj ("Super Bass")?
Singer Katy Perry has dominated MTV’s 2011 Video Music Awards nominations, receiving nine in total. Among the awards Perry is nominated to receive are Video of the Year, Best Female Video, and Best Pop Video.
The 2011 MTV VMA nominees have been announced, and Katy Perry might want to start drafting a VMA acceptance speech, because she's nominated for an extraordinary NINE VMAs, including Best Pop Video, Best Collaboration, Best Art Direction, Best Direction, Best Editing and Best Special Effects for "E.T." featuring Kanye West, and Video Of The Year and Best Female Video for "Firework," as well as Best Cinematography for "Teenage Dream." No big deal or anything.
But Katy Perry's not the only star who could be walking out with more than a couple Moonmen on VMA night. Adele earned seven VMA nominations for her smash hit song "Rolling In The Deep." Adele's VMA nominations include Video Of The Year, Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Direction and Best Editing.
Kanye West can proudly claim six VMA nominations for "All Of The Lights" and "Power," while Bruno Mars has been honored with four VMA nominations for Video of The Year, Best Male Video, Best Pop Video and Best Choreography.
